Where is your Hope these days? Do you find hope in your home? Education or hobbies? Do you find hope in your work? Do you find hope in your relationships with loved ones or friends? Do you find hope in your community and or country?

This month, I want to share Lamentations 3:25-26. “The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.” This verse should speak to all of us and it’s one to remember and visit often.

We were all created for the glory of God for His purpose and His joy. Yet, instead so many feel the world owes them something, if not a lot.

They feel they are entitled to use what the world offers with little to no effort in return. It’s someone else’s job or someone else’s problem. Yet, this is not the attitude which God created us for. Consider for a moment if you will, our economy. It is so exhausted! Yes, I think exhausted might be a perfect word for it. Please note there is no finger pointing going on in this comment either. Our world is hurting everywhere you turn. People are losing jobs, homes, family members and it seems as though hope is hard to find. Some are blessed with much and some are blessed with some and then some are blessed with very little or none at all.

You see, the thought process for some is to consider themselves deserving, or owed, or worthy of the blessings of this world with little to zero indebtedness. I think the key problem is the short phrase this world.”

If we rely on “this world” to bring us hope, to fill our dreams, to bring us true JOY, we’re relying on the very thing that can and will disappoint us. It can destroy us without any hesitation or consideration. Finding hope really isn’t that difficult if you look in the right place.

The Scripture reading says clearly, “The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him”. Why is it so dif icult to seek the Lord? His love and guidance is right in front of us if we would only take hold of it and begin to put our trust in HIM.

We put more pressure and stress on ourselves by looking in all the wrong places. We might even think God doesn’t have time for our piddly problems. Maybe we think we’re not worthy of the attention and love of the One true God.

Don’t lose sight of the fact that HE MADE YOU! He knows you and He desires to have you seeking Him. When we walk with Him and put our Trust in Him, waiting for the salvation that He alone offers will become a true joy. Yes, there will still be struggles, but the joy will be true and complete. Put your HOPE in HIM ALONE.

May you find true hope, Pastor Kathi Kraus
